Do women keep certain people around for a ego boost?

Like old boyfriends or maybe dudes who are interested in them?

Recently a friend of mine broke up with his girlfriend and he keeps getting texts and phone calls from his ex even though she has a boyfriend, he gets depressed every time after talking to her, I told him to stop talking to her cuz it sounds like she's using him for a ego boost... Long story short... Do u feel that a lot of women do this on purpose?

Yes, a lot of women do that on purpose- eve though they have no more interest in the guy, they will try to keep him around just for an ego boost. Sounds like that's exactly what she's doing. Also, they often like the flattery and validation they get so they do that... it's true. I would personally never do that though, because I don't need validation. If I dont like a guy, I won't lead him on or keep him hanging constantly for my own selfish reasons. Its evil :/

By the same token guys should be wiser and realise sooner that they are being kept around for validation purposes and nothing more.

This is why I urge men to ask a girl out ASAP instead of spending weeks or months inflating her ego and it's also why I tell men to keep their distance from girls who have rejected them and to go no contact indefinitely with women who are their exes unless children are involved.

Men can only be played by women if they allow themselves to be put in that position.

I feel like some girls do do this. I personally wouldn't because it would just hurt me more and it doesn't make sense to me. If I was with a boyfriend, I would like this guy very much. I wouldn't need to be talking to other guys for that kinda feeling. If I were good friends then maybe, but if there were any sort of lingering feelings I'd stay away.

No they keep them around and there phone numbers just so they can have someone to fall back on or have if the previous doesn't go well

Yeah they do, as validation. Used to like this girl, she didn't like me, so I moved on and gave her less attention - like from talking every day to once a week. Now says I'm an arrogant asshole, because I don't give her the attention any more (the ego boost). Didn't do anything else to her but calls me an asshole. Women love attention and if you don't give them it then your an "asshole", but not all women are bitchy enough to call you out on it.
