How do I deal with a seriously oblivious room mate?

Ok, so I go to a really big university and apparently she was home schooled all her life. She and I get along okay but her behavior is starting to freak me out. If she watches movies on her computer she will do so very loudly. even if I'm trying to watch the tv. usually I will watch things on my laptop because "her parents won't allow her to watch tv and it makes her feel word to have it on" she's 18. Also I will be doing homework and she will start sining aria. very loudly and if i ask her to stop she will hum for hours. She also changes the temperature obsessively. I went to bed freezing last night and then woke up in a pool of sweat because she had it on 76. How do I reason with her to calm down on the weirdness?

So today I was watching frozen on my computer just because... she heard it and started saying the lines and singing so i turned on my web cam and recorded her. is it mean if i show the ra?

Gosh, thats difficult, because you can't blow up on a roommate... you have to live with them.

An RA could possibly help you out with this, but it seems like you need to just have a chat with her about some of her habits. I say some, because you need to chose your battles. Everyone annoys everyone, especially when you have to share a room. So you should pick the few things that bother you most and address those. Other things, like the homework stuff, can be fixed by you doing your homework at the library.

It might not be ideal, but you'll have to make it work.

I don't think she's being weird, she's just not being considerate. You two need to sit down and have a discussion about volume, temperature and shared responsibilities. It sounds like you two never spoke about these things, and they should be covered any time you have a new roommate.

we talked in a romm mate agreement about the temp of the room as well as noise control. but her argument is "I'm not loud" but ur still singing... not to mention she goes to bed every night at 8pm and asks that i cut everything off as well

Sometimes you just have to scare people like that and make them realize you are in charge by being aggressive with them. Be firm and forward when you TELL her how you want her to behave.

"oblivious" I think is the right word you used. It may take something out of your normal personality to break through to your room mate.

You should talk to your RA if you have a problem with her. Usually the RA will be able to fix things.
