What if a girl apologizes for her appearance?

So, this girl that I (a girl) hungout with recently and I had been texting for awhile. We decided to meet up. She was very diff. in person (usually curt over texts), and seemed excited to see me/talkative. After we were talking for a bit, she apologized for her work clothes (she sort of dresses like that normally though from what I recall, so I felt it was out of the blue). She then mentioned that her would've been able to stay longer, but that her plans had gotten messed up. She also joked about how she hadn't had time to go and change/shower or plan if she was going to wear make up (I was wearing some, but hadn't seen her in any before). Does this indicate friendliness or was she hinting towards flirting/liking me?

She probably felt very self-conscious and insecure about her appearance. She was nervous and didn't want you thinking less of you. My girlfriend is the same way, we met online and she is gorgeous but as soon as we met in person she was so worried that I'd think she was less attractive. She would constantly redo her makeup and "freshen up." The fact that she cares so much about the way she looks shows that she is definitely interested... just a bit worried about the way you will see her.

Lol what? Please clarify what you think my situation indicates. Your answer isn't clear to me. Why do you think she was apologizing for her appearance and such? Friendly or more?

Is she gay? If so then I would say she sounds like she wants you to know she can look better for you, because she was insecure. If not I imagine she was just acting insecure. Insecure people apologize for all sorts of things that don't make sense.

I don't know her orientation and she seems very private about it (I asked once and she didn't reply; she mentioned another time where she didn't answer when we hungout)

I don't know any straight people that would have had a problem answering if they were gay or not. I imagine she is in the closet. She may not fully understand her sexuality herself. That is just a guess from a very small amount of information, but it is the impression it gives me.

I feel the same way about it, but she has mentioned a guy once (never again though haha!), yet did mention a friend asking her and she didn't reply b/c she felt like it was creepy b/c he kept asking her (makes sense though).
