well, haha is really no different than Lol. When you say lol, most of the time you aren't actually laughing out loud. Rather you chuckled slightly or just smiled. Same thing with just "haha". I have seen guys use haha over lol as well. If I were to say something that were funny to him (I'm not funny on purpose, I guess some people just find me funny?) he would say hahahahaha to show me that he was laughing hard. But some people say lololol when they laugh really hard. So that's really the only difference.

haha= you made me laugh a little, or you made me smile a small smile.
hahaha=you just made me grin ear to ear and giggle a bubbly laugh
hahahaha= oh my god that is so funny
lol= you made me laugh a little, or you made me smile a small smile.
lolol= you made me laugh and smile
lololol= oh my god that is fucking hilarious

I use both the same way depending. But usually I will say haha I feel lol is outdated now.

I've known a lot of girls who said "lol" means they literally laughed out loud, while "haha" implies more that they are recognizing or stating comedic intention without claiming to be laughing in real life.

I tend to use them the same way, so people don't see me type "lol" very often, and when I do its usually capitalized with several dozen exclamation points for emphasis on the realism.
