Are stuck up girls really just insecure?

I'm wondering if that's the case, I have a crush on a girl who acts stuck up around other people at school but I think she really might just be insecure. Has anyone ever encountered one and found this to be true?

OK Picture this.
A pretty girl gets approached by many guys a day, they don't care what she has to say, they don't care who she is, but they pretend to because they are interested in trying to have sex with her. That is the ONLY reason they approach.
After a while, this girl is going to seem stuck up to guys because she will be so used to shutting down assholes that guys just see her as a bitch who thinks she's the shit. But that isn't the case, she is just tired of idiots not being interested in her as a human.
