Should I be worried if my girlfriend has a below average IQ?

I really like her but I was shocked to find this out. I don't know if I should be concerned or whether maybe I'm just over thinking it.

The focus shouldn't be on the actual number. You should be able to see for yourself how intelligent she is. All you need is conversation with a person to determine whether you're on the same level intellectually. A number isn't necessary to get the gist of how smart a person is.

As others have stated, though, 65 is retardation, and it should be extremely obvious as to whether your girlfriend is mentally retarded or not. If she displays a normal intellectual capacity then her IQ being 65 is incorrect.

Think about it seriously, as long as she's not lazy and will go jet a job and make a life for herself not only depending on you than it shouldn't matter. Your'e defiantly thinking on it too much. Her IQ is just a number, if your'e worried about numbers then think about all the years you will loose with this amazing girl JUST because you were too distracted be her IQ. Why don't you switch the roles around, I'm sure you wouldn't like it if she left you for something so petty.

Seriously? I think you are over thinking. It should matter what someone's intelligence, looks, social status, and etc is... Its the way a person feels. Yes, you need someone you can have a meaniful conversation with without feeling like you have to explain everything to them. But that shouldn't matter... Hell our brains don't even full potential until close to thirty. Don't be shallow. Love her for her.

If her IQ was 65 she would have autism or autistic traits. Which is obviously not the case and you did this over the internet, which doesn't mean anything. And even if she did actually have a low score you should love her for who she is.

Maybe she's just not good at doing IQ tests.
In this country, it was thought that young children who could take stones out of a box and count them were more intelligent than those who couldn't count the stones.

Then someone noticed that some of the children who couldn't count were able to fill the box back up and place every stone in its original position and facing the same way. Who do you think was more intelligent?

65 is pretty low. But that number by itself is only part of the story. If she's functional and can live her life independently then it's not a big worry. If you've known her for a while and never noticed it, it's probably OK. As a matter of fact it makes me wonder if that number is even accurate.

If she took a test and she has a low IQ i dont see why that matters. Even if she was just plain dumb it shouldn't matter. If you truly love her then it shouldn't matter

Not all of those iq tests are acurate, and what matters more is what you do with your iq. There are people who have really high iqs who don't do shit with it and there are people who have average iqs and do very well.

Anyways if you don't notice it, who gives a fuck what her iq score is. You didn't think she was dumb before you found out her score, did you?

The real IQ test is like puzzles and math and  English  none of it basic I have an IQ of 147 or I did the last time I had to take the test, if you're still in school it's not that big of a deal but once gone through college it should go up, but I don't think it's anything to worry about period

Low IQ is nothing to be worried about. Iq only measures certain aspects of mental capacity, some people excel in different areas.
