GIRLS - Why would YOU read a guys' Facebook message to you, then hit "mark as unread" so that it doesn't show on his screen that you've read it?

Sent a girl I've never met but have seen a message on Facebook. Wasn't expecting a reply, but she responded and was very nice, asked me how I was and what school I go to and all that. Replied to her reply. She didn't see it until 2 hours later and when she did the little checkmark appeared to show that she read it. But about 30 seconds later it didn't show it anymore, which means she hit "mark as unread" meaning I can't see that she read it on my screen (anymore).

Why would she do that? Busy at the time and couldn't reply so didn't want me to think she was ignoring me? Putting it off for later? Not wanting to talk to me? WHAT?

If I did that, it would probably be because I'm busy or wanted more time to reply, but didn't want him to see that I've read it and assume I'm ignoring him if it takes me a while to get back to him. Marking it as unread also reminds me that I haven't replied yet.

I've down this. I read the message then click unread so the person doesn't know I read it.

I don't know why she did it, but I do it for two reasons (1) I don't know what to say but I want to read the message and (2) I don't want to reply but I want to read the entire message without the person knowing I did.

No the checkmark means it was delivered. Their profile image in a little circle means they read it
