Do women act uninterested on purpose?

I have given Tinder a try. I have been swiping until i got blisters on my fingers but now I have have three matches. I wrote those women but I only got answers from them but never a question back. Eventually I stopped writing them because it's hard to keep a conversation going when someone only gives short answers and never asks you anything. It just comes across as uninterested.

Now 2 weeks later all three of them started writing me all sorts of questions. And all of them were wondering why I didn't write them any more. I don't understand why they could not have done this from the start.

Is this something that women do (of course I understand not that not every woman is the same)? Meaning acting not interesting to see how interested the guy is? It would explain a lot of encounters I had in the past. Or maybe it’s something else?

Yes, we do. But that's for a few reason. One of the main ones being that we're always told that 'Guys like the chase.' If there is no chase, if you're completely honest, then he probably won't like you back. That may not be the case, but that's what we're usually told.

The second is the whole not wanting to come on too strong. At least for me anyway, because when I like someone I really like them and if I don't, I really don't.

And lastly, I don't want to be hurt or come off as easy as @rockaholic said.

Aha, I see. It makes sense. I just get confused because I never see that happen with my friends. But women always tell me how handsome they are and I am not. So maybe I should stop comparing the reactions they get with mine.

In order to engage someone you've got to "play" try to make a game out of conversing so that you can both keep eachothers attn

Some do some don't, it's hard to tell.

What I've done (in general, I've never used Tinder) is just ask them on a date. If they are all weird and hot-and-cold, indecisive, play games, act hard to get or whatever. I just don't talk to them ever again and forget they ever existed, not worth my time.

Playing games never has been my thing.

lol i was seeing myself in this, but only for the first paragraph.
them giving only short answers, not asking me anything, etc. seemed the normal to me. i also after a while just stop talking because i feel like an idiot lol.

I was very surprised when i received them. And the funny thing is that 2 them wrote me back exactly after 14 days and both of them on the exact same day. Almost like it was timed.

Yeah, I have used tinder for a month or so now, and some of these girls just give short answers like: "yes", "no", "haha", "ok". They never ask me anything so I have to keep the conversation going but after a while I'm just like: "fuck this shit" and move on.

A lot of do that on purpose, they have to play the "hard to catch" role.
In their minds, the longer they do it the more we learn to value them.
