Girls, Why can't she choose between me and another guy?

I've been talking to this girl for months now, im a junior and she's a freshman. she's always said that her guy friend is just a "friend" but the thing is, he flirts a lot with her. he's getting in the way of her and i. So summer approaches and she says, im gonna take summer to figure out what i want. Basically saying she doesn't want to date me.. As summer goes on i realize she's having trouble deciding who she likes more. Me or the guy friend. Her and i talk as if we were a couple but i feel she's just stringing me along, and i dont wanna be an option or compete with the guy, because she's not a prize one of us will win. So i have no idea what to do, make her decision easier and wish her well or keep trying? Its just so confusing, her mood swings a lot

Ugh. If she really liked you, she would date you. Do you really want to be a second choice? I mean, she needs time? For what? For the other guy to prove to her he is better? Or to meet someone she likes more than both you and the other guy?

Honestly, have some pride and tell her that if she doesn't want you now, you don't want her later. I think this will either make her realize she really does like you and doesn't want to lose you or it will make her give you up, which means she never really liked you like that to begin with.

Just straight up drop her. She is completely confused and hasn't been forced to make a decision yet. When people stop playing her game, she will make a choice pretty quick.

Dropping out does not make you a loser, it makes you a much better person. It shows that you know you are worth so much more.

She ended things and said we are just friends for now. Apparently when school begins things will return to normal. Which is what im hoping for. But I don't know lately.
