Perhaps when you get pregnant you'll understand. It's endearing, its comforting, its soothing, its a way for mom to feel a deeper connection with baby, they may be adjusting and re-adjusting as babies closer to term tend to kick at rips and put mom's in uncomfortable positions, etc. If you can see that they have a belly, you will obviously know they are pregnant. The last thing they are thinking is how can I make YOU feel more comfortable with their pregnancy and what they are doing by rubbing their bellies.

+1 yWhat does them rubbing THEIR bellies have to do with you? You are aware that a human is growing inside of them right? Do you realize how much a baby moves? And how painful and uncomfortable it can be? Also, rubbing your stomach is soothing. I'm not pregnant and I rub my stomach all the time. Get a grip.

Asker+1 y... ooooook.
+1 yThey have a living person inside of them, they're obviously attached to it and love it more than anything else in the world even before the baby has even came out. So they're obviously going to caress it. Its just a natural thing. Does it bother you or something? >.>

Asker+1 yI just find it annoying that a baby seems to dominate a women's world and turn her into someone who is absent minded and oblivious to all the other goings-on in the world.
- +1 y
It doesn't make her oblivious to all the other things in the world, it is just her focus of attention probably until the day she dies.. You won't understand until you have a baby yourself.
Asker+1 yI don't think so! I'll always care about everyone equally, that's the kinda person I am. :)

Thanks for MHO
Asker+1 yWelcome :)
+1 yThey have oil they need to apply to avoid stretchmarks. Plus they like to rub the bottom and push up a little bit because it relieves the weight off their back. And sometimes they just think about the life inside of them and they put their hands there because it makes them feel endearing and close to it. I wouldn't worry about it to much.

+1 ydoes it really bother you that much?
i imagine there is a psychological connection to the baby. sort of a soothing
perhaps their belly is a bit sore after all it is stretching to about 4-5x's it's normal size
i don't think they are doing it consciously so maybe try not to get all bent out over it53 Reply
Asker+1 yOh. I see.

i only know because my wife was pregnant this year. trust me she didn't want to draw attention to her ever growing belly. she loved what it represented but didn't like have a bowling ball size protrusion in her stomach... but she often rubbed her belly so i imagine it was a relatively unconscious action
Asker+1 yYeah, I guess you're right!

+1 yBecause theyre comforted by their MOVING baby in their bellies lol. Sometimes babies jab you on the inside and you rub it, just when you hit your knee you hold it etc. I'm assuming, though never have been pregnant just what my sister tells me.

Asker+1 yThanks :) and no I've never been pregnant!
+1 yTo ease any discomfort from baby kicking or just soothing the baby from the outside in.

Asker+1 yCan you really soothe a baby from the outside in?
- +1 y
Yes you can, my sister use to sing and and rub her belly when the baby would kick or be in a position that gave her discomfort and swore that it worked for her i think there are studies done that prove it has an effect, so i guess it does work.
Asker+1 yAwe, well that's nice I guess :)
1.8K opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. It's probably something related to their maternal instinct kicking in. A comforting sort of action.
If it bothers you so much though, don't stare. Simple solution.45 Reply
Asker+1 yYeah but no need for it to kick in all day everyday.
Asker+1 yWell they're huge so, kinda hard to miss...
Asker+1 yYep.
+1 yIt's kind of hard to not rub something that kicks, moves, bumps, and protrudes from your stomach. It's likely just habit.
Besides, why does it even matter? It's their belly, they can do what they want. No need to hate.15 Reply
Asker+1 yI guess. And no, not hating just wondered why women act as if their baby is the only thing in the world that matters.
- +1 y
Because you're carrying a living life inside of your body, kind of seems hard to ignore and treat like it isn't the most important thing in the world, considering you have to literally spend every day keeping it alive. A little hard to focus on other things, especially given that it physically effects you every single day and is a "TAD" hard to ignore.
Asker+1 yYeah but you're not doing anything remotely different. Apart from not drinking and all the rest that could harm a baby, it's not a huge deal. Our bodies are wired to nurture babies without us having to do much really. Just because you're pregnant doesn't mean that your child is or should be the most important thing in the world. There's more to life.
- +1 y
... Lol.
Asker+1 y:) :)
Being pregnat its a magic thing.. you are about to bring to life a little angle.. so its just a mothers instinct to want to protect her child by placing the hand on her belly.. its like holding your baby.. feeling it how it moves!!!

Asker+1 yI guess...
They don't. That's mostly a TV thing, to draw attention to the fact that the woman is pregnant and not just obese.
I only started noticing this when my girl was pregnant. Also, it's OTHER people who always want to rub the belly. All the time.03 Reply
Asker+1 yYeah but unless the woman is already obese, it's blatantly obvious that she's pregnant given its just her belly that's swollen.
- +1 y
Asker- it is not just her belly that is swollen. When women get pregnant they tend to gain weight in their face, breasts, hips and butt as well... not so much the limbs, but it is definitely not just in the belly. The belly is just the most noticeable.
Asker+1 y@SensualScribe fair enough. But some women are lucky enough just to get a swollen belly.
2.8K opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. I have no clue! I think they want be in touch with their child!

I don't know about all the time but your body goes through a lot when you're pregnant, like there's pains, gas, and one time I saw someone rub their pregnant belly whenever she felt the baby moving.
Asker+1 yI suppose, good point.
You are of course aware that pregnancy is highly uncomfortable? They're not gloating or anything. They're in pain.
Asker+1 ySureeeeeee (!)
Asker+1 yIt's not hatred? It's just confusion.
Asker+1 yYep, that's just me :)
+1 yComforting the baby or easing the pain of the pregnancy. Depending how far on they are its nice to put a hand on and feel it kicking.
Asker+1 yBut, all the time though? Once a day would be fine but some women, it's constant. All the time.
- +1 y
Do they pat their head at the same time :-D
Asker+1 yThey may as well.
Asker+1 yHaha :)
- +1 y
Hehe like it :-)
They are uncomfortable or in pain or I guess it could be they have trapped gas. since Pregnant women get a lot more gas.

Yeah, I once saw a girl at university. 19 or 20 year old girl and she was not pregnant but I saw her farting in the library on the silent level. I just happened to be looking in her direction when I saw her lean to one side and lift a butt check off her seat. LOL sorry if that is TMI.
Asker+1 yHahaha 😂😂😂 that's rather enjoyable! Haha
Asker+1 yHahah you should have totally said that 😂ðŸ˜ðŸ™ˆ she'd have been mortified! Haha
Asker+1 yHaha it really would be, she'd never have lived it down!! Haha :)
Asker+1 yHaha you should have 😂😂
Asker+1 yExactly :) let it all go!!
Asker+1 yHahah 😂
- +1 y
When it comes to farting no matter who you are with or where you are there is only one correct thing to do and that is to...
24.media.tumblr.com/.../...9s7Nwd1s2ynnio1_500.gif
Asker+1 y... precisely :)
Asker+1 yWow... 😂😳 haha
- +1 y
Yes and back in 2000 when she was in class at high school and the class was silent she got gas roll down to her ass and she just farted loudly at her desk with other people at desks behind her. She did not to a little fart either, she pushed out a massive, very long and very loud fart in front of her class mates in a silent class. LOL it was no accident either she just does not care where she farts or who she is around she was just sitting in class and was like oh I need to fart and just pushed it out just like that.
Asker+1 yWow that's mad
Asker+1 yYuck! Haha
Asker+1 yHaha I'm sure 😂
- +1 y
Yes another girl told me her female cousin also farts in public to. That her female cousin will be sitting somewhere in public and then she will lean to one side, lift one of her ass checks off the seat and just "let it all go" loudly and that she will do this as often as she needs to. So say if she got gas 10 times in an hour sitting next to a guy in public she will fart like that 10 times in that hour next to the guy. LOL Some women really do not mind farting loudly in public.
I dunno, man. When my belly's full I like to rub it too.

I don't know. I guess its just maternal instincts kicking in prematurely?
Asker+1 yMaybe? Although it's not so premature, I'm 22...
+1 y... i dont c why it's such a big deal. they love the baby in their tummy, so what? don't look.

Just as there is no need for you to concern yourself with what other people do with their own body. I hope you aren't this concerned about all the other millions of things that happen for "no need" in a day In the world.
Asker+1 yStill no need...
Maybe ask mom? I'm sure she'll be a lot more informative than a lot of us here.

Asker+1 yI thought pregnancy was meant to be an amazing thing? Haha
Opinion Owner+1 ySome have nice easy pregnancies, most don't. 2 or 3 women I know said they felt better in pregnancy than when they aren't pregnant, but that's really REALLY rare I think lol. And it is amazing in other ways lol, just a struggle. But it's like you can feel sick all day, throw up 5 times, and it sits in the wrong place, then you feel it kick and you're like "aww baby, ok you can sit in the wrong place and make me need to pee every 5 mins" haha.
And it's just amazing because you're growing a baby too lol, when you get your scans and hear the heartbeat and all that, you feel amazed.
Asker+1 yAww, I guess you're right :)
