Anonymous(36-45)+1 yDifferent Types of Discharge
White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.
Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.
Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.
Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if it is thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.
Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.
Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle. Sometimes early in pregnancy you may have spotting or a brownish discharge at the time your period would normally come.
If you have spotting at the time of your normal period rather than your usual amount of flow, and you have had sex without using birth control, you should check a pregnancy test.
A normal vaginal discharge consists of about a teaspoon (4 milliliters) a day that is white or transparent, thick to thin, and odorless.
This is formed by the normal bacteria and fluids the vaginal cells put off. The discharge can be more noticeable at different times of the month depending on ovulation, menstrual flow, sexual activity, and birth control
It is not uncommon for the normal discharge to be dark, brown, or discolored a day or two following the menstrual period.
If you are having any of the symptoms below see your health care provider:
Pain
Itching
Discomfort
Rash or sores alone or with a vaginal discharge

+1 yTrust me if I say that most men, who had at least one serious girlfriend/steady affair/FWB etc is aware of the fact that women 'leak', some days (especially during ovulation) stronger than others.
Such knowledge comes with experience or research and most, if not all men I've had the pleasure meeting in my life, especially around my age, know or are vaguely aware of female bodily functions.
When I was younger I used to believe that guys would think I am dirty or infected because of the natural discharge. It was during my first relationship that I've learnt (through the help of my ex bf) that it's normal and nothing to be ashamed of. My own experience with the male species leads me to believe that more men seem to be aware of this than you might initially suspect.10 Reply
I don't think most young guys know much about it unless they are in the healthcare field or are well-read. But I could be wrong! You're right, it's not something discussed but it's very very normal. I can't imagine something like that ever being a dealbreaker. Even if he is grossed out at first it is likely out of innocence. When you tell him it's normal and what it is, he'll probably just accept it as female thing.
Another "secret" body issues women face that isn't talked about much is body hair around then nipple and anywhere on the body.43 Reply
Asker+1 yI absolutely agree with you on the body hair as well. I guess they're just subjects a guy typically learns through personal experience haha.

I think mot men on here are aware of vaginal discharge, and that it is usually normal and a cleansing action. But also that it gets much heavier when sexually excited. And that dome discharge is not good.
But you bring up an excellent point about hair, especially around the nipple. Not only do I think most guys are not aware of it and may be "disgusted" by it, but many women do not know that it is not something all that unusual. Often I read things on here where a gal is freaked out and very worried because she has hair near her nipple. That is certainly something more people of both sexes need to be aware of. - +1 y
@Red_Arrow Lol maybe! I meant moreso the nitty gritty details about it... like how often, the different colors/scents/textures, how it varies alongside the menstrual cycle, the purpose of pantiliners, etc. It takes women a while to understand their bodies too... hormonal changes always keeping us on our toes. Takes a while for girls to catch on to male problems as well.
Yeah I believe I was told the statistic is about 1 in every 3 women has some hairs around the areola. That's a large number of women for something that is almost never talked about. I think our quest for hairlessness culture has gone so far that young boys and girls think hairless is a natural normal which is pretty crazy.
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yguys have pre-cum lol Im sure they know about it. If they don't I don't see them turned off by it unless its an std and its different colors (from what i've heard) i see them more wanting to learn about it then anything

Anyone who's had sex should know. Or had a girlfriend. My first girlfriend thought I came inside her. The first time we both learned about discharge. >.> Though, I wasn't aware it was every day. Are you sure about that? For all women? Insofar as I'm aware, none of my gfs had it every day. Though, I suppose they might not have jumped at the chance to tell me every single time. But I imagine the discussion would have come up at some point in a decade with various girls.
As for being grossed out, you shouldn't worry. As long as it's clear or white and doesn't smell, everything's good. I think the vast majority of guys don't care. They're just happy to be down there in the first place. Don't worry so much. Men are pretty chill when it comes to that kind of stuff. Most men. I think.10 Reply

What do you mean! ? ! ? Are you sure that's normal?
Please enlight me!611 Reply- +1 y
Yeah I get it every single day. I can't speak for every girl but it's pretty normal. It's just the vaginas way of cleaning itself.
Opinion Owner+1 y@Checkers82 I'm not sure what people mean by discharge anymore. Should I google it up?

Yeah... it sucks to have discharge everyday. Like 24/7. The struggles of being a woman.
Asker+1 yYes everyday. I've gotten it everyday since I've started puberty. It's not the same as the slick fluid that girls get when they're aroused, it's just fluid from your vagina that keeps it clean and healthy. It's not a lot a all, majority of the time its just enough to leak out and create a dry patch on underwear, but isn't something a woman would normally have to worry about leaking past underwear. Nothing to worry about so long as its white/clear and doesn't have an odor. texture can vary and its healthy, and all girls experience brown discharge after a period for a little while just because it's the leftover blood being flushed out. discharge isn't a sign of arousal or infection, just a byproduct meaning that your vagina is properly cleansing itself.
Opinion Owner+1 ySoo... it's transparent and odorless? Why would someone get disgusted by that?
Asker+1 ywell it can also have a whiteish color too. And your guess is as good as mine. Sometimes if the texture happens to be thicker or even stretchy then people who aren't familiar can mistake it as a sign of an infection or unhealthiness when it actually means the vagina is healthy. I think the main reason some people are grossed out by it is because anything that comes out of the vagina that isn't arousal related is taboo haha.
Opinion Owner+1 yI had heard the term before, but didn't think it actually came to the outside. I thought that the self cleaning was done indoors.
Thanks for the insights.
Asker+1 yHaha glad to help!

Yes, it's 100% normal for a girl to have it daily.

I know girls get discharge but not EVERY time. I am perfectly okay with it but I know some weird guys are grossed out by it even though it is normal for women. I think because people dislike what is foreign to them, education will leave them moronless. I assure you.

Most girls have it everyday to some degree. Its how the vagina cleans itself

@RachelBrigs Thanks, I did not know that !
+1 yYes, I'm aware of it.
I'm also aware that everyone poops.
I don't talk about either because they're inappropriate topics to discuss in 99% of conversations.
Just because it's natural doesn't mean I want to talk about it.10 Reply- 355 opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yThis is something that i wish was discussed more in sex ed, it's good for all genders to know whats natural. I remember having to ask a nurse if it was natural to have daily discharge becasue it was never mentioned to me before ever!

@RachelBrigs I guess that's true.
Id heard about it but never looked into it. Daily? What is being discharged?

10 ReplyMy wife discharges a lot. I just imagine she was super horny and it was her wet pussy juice
00 ReplyOf course I'm aware of it
20 ReplyI thought they only discharged once a month?
Asker+1 yWomen have periods (blood) once a month for usually 5-7 days. Discharge is a white to translucent substance that comes from the vagina that is basically what washes the vagina out and make sure everything inside stays fresh and healthy, it's normally a very small amount but most women get it every day especially when they are at a sexually prime age.
yes they know and during sex they like it
12 Reply
Asker+1 yNot discharge as in the stuff that comes out of the vagina when a girl is roused, I mean the other substance that is flushed out throughout the day natural, with no relation to arousal
I know about it and no it doesn't gross me out

+1 yI thought it was because of the excitement :)
Asker+1 ygirls do leak a slick fluid when theyre excited, but that substance and discharge aren't the same thing. Discharge can happen at any time regardless of arousal, its just the vagina cleaning itself and making sure everything is healthy.
- +1 y
Does it smell or something?
Asker+1 yNo it shouldn't really have much of a smell at all, if it had a strong bad odor than it could be an infection, but healthy normal discharge doesn't have any scent other than the natural mild scent that vaginas have in general
- +1 y
Then everything should be okay :)
+1 yyup, knew it
