Girls, Running without a bra... can you do it?

So yes, I know this is a kinda daft question but hey it's late and I have only a tiny guy mind... :) I've often heard girls complain that they 'can't' do all sorts of things without a bra/sports bra, yet I have an ex who would happily run with me braless for a laugh occasionally - was she just a freak? So could you do it, and if so for how long, and how hard would it be? I guess your size would be relevant, unless you want to keep it a secret. Just curious! :)

I'm a 32B, I would never go running without a good supporting bra on. I have several Nike & Under Armour bras that give firm support for running, yoga & whatever other exercise I'm doing.

Breasts of any size need support during an impact activity, & a woman with larger breasts especially so. While you guys may enjoy seeing large breasts bouncing around you should know that it's painful.

I don't even have big boobs but it really hurts. I tried running with a normal bra once and ended up trying to hold my chest while running. Then I gave up because I looked really weird.

Goodness no. Do you know how much that would hurt? I wear a DD, and just walking around without a bra can be painful sometimes. All that weight just drags down my chest and neck and every part of my skin that holds the boobs to my body and making them bounce is even worse. I don't even run with just a sports bra on, there's no support with those. Most of the time, I have to hold my boobs down to run. It's horrible. It hurts.

God no. I have A cups and it hurts like hell. I cannot imagine what it's like for the ladies with large chesticles.

I've tried braless and with a regular bra. Nope. Would never do it again. Sports bra provides adequate coverage.

I can do it, but I would prefer not to do it. I can walk without one, although it feels a little bit uncomfortable because they are sensitive. But running? Even though mine are small it hurts me when I do it without a bra.

Haha i can't. I have 32DD breasts and they hurt a lot when they bounce. I have to wear a normal bra and a sports bra when i work out

No, that would be really painful. It would probably damage the tissue.

Thanks! :) I don't think it does any damage (or at least my ex thought not, and was in great shape) - I remember she actually read somewhere that movement without support helps to work and so strengthen the ligaments which naturally support the breasts, which reduces the risk of sagging... I'm no boob scientist (what a fantastic job that sounds!) I can only say it definitely hasn't caused any sagging in her case! :) Thanks again for your answer, take care :)

It does do damage actually. The frequent up and down movement will pull on the ligaments which cause them to stretch in the long run. Since these ligaments aren't elastic they will stay this way. It doesn't make them stronger because there isn't a lot of muscle tissue in the breasts.

Yup... I know there's no muscle at all in breasts (so you can't 'work out' your boobs contrary to what a bunch of people seem to think) - it's a while ago now but I think the theory was that in breasts the support comes not from muscle but from ligaments, and any ligaments in the body wherever they are tend to atrophy or weaken if they're not required to work, whereas when they're worked hard they tend to strengthen in consequence. But anyway, as I say I'm no boob scientist, just recalling what she told me... and of course the evidence that in her specific case, whether through luck or boob science she remains a sag-free zone! :)

It's uncomftrable to run with out support I know this because I ran track and cross country. That is why I need a sports bra. One of the perks of having small boobs is that.

Technically any girl can run without a bra, it just hurts depending on how big your boobs are because they're just flopping around freely while you're running.
