Girls, what did my girlfriend mean by saying 'hover'?

Me and my girlfriend were going to use the public bathroom the other day. Before she went in to the ladies, she said to me that she'll have to hover even though she hates it. Does anyone know what that means?

It means she didn't sit down on the toilet seat and hovered over it to take a pee. Because it's a public bathroom you don't know if you're going to pick up anything nasty. Make better sense now? Why didn't you just ask her at the time?

She was talking about "hovering" over the toilet seat so her that bottom wouldn't make contact with the seat. A lot of women do this because they are not comfortable with using public toilets.
