Obviously in this day and age, the expectation that women cook and clean for men is looked on with scorn. But I've noticed many times that girls still seem to like cooking for others or get pleasure from seeing others enjoying their food. They also seem to like cleaning and doing the laundry. If my mom visits someone, she often starts cleaning or washing dishes without either being asked or asking whether she should, even though the place is already cleaner than her own. When I asked the question on GAG, "If your family went away for a week and you had the house to yourself, what would you do?" several girls mentioned cooking and cleaning.
Do females secretly enjoy these things? I never expect girls to cook, clean, wash and iron clothes, etc., and think guys are lame if they don't know how to do these basic things. But many girls seem to want to do them for guys just on their own. Is this true of women in general or just the ones I happen to know?
Do girls actually like cooking and cleaning for people?
I don't mind cleaning but don't "like" it. I do enjoy cooking. And it's nice having someone to cook for. But at the same time, I'd be super annoyed if I was the one ALWAYS doing the cooking and cleaning. I think people should treat one another and it shouldn't be a one way street.
I do a bit more of that stuff than my boyfriend but he also takes car of my car and the lawn so it evens out. He enjoys doing car stuff and doesn't mind mowing the lawn, whereas I don't know shit about cars and I don't like working out in the sun because I get heat exhaustion very easily so I do more indoor stuff and take care of the plants and shit like that. When I lived on my own I did all of the and that was fine but it's nice being able to divide things up the way that works best for us. He cooks well so I'm glad we split the cooking.
I don't like it because I don't have the practice. But I do like it when I see some of my family members actually giving importance to those things.
Like today, my best friend and I were shopping and she started to talk about this course she is going to take. And also mentioned that she is somewhat worried or stressed that she won't have time for housework. The way she said it , it was really nice. As in it made me feel, "Wow, you are amazing."
I want to do those stuff but what I dislike is when some people starts to see those things as my duty. I want to do it because I like it but whenever I see them starting to order me around, that's when I get upset and stop all together..
I don't so much love it, but I do love getting it done. Makes me feel responsible and self-sufficient. Lol if I'm living in a house by myself, I might as well make myself useful!
And I think moms just like helping out, that's why they cook or clean for another person without a word.
They don't particularly enjoy it. If you've ever been to a woman's apartment, you know they live like pigs. But aside from access to their vaginas, they realize that cooking and cleaning is the only way they can snag a man into wifeing them up. As soon as there's a ring on her finger, you can forget about living in a clean house or having meals prepared for you. Access to the vagina will dry up within a year as well. Then the divorce rape comes. Never get married!
It's... Kind of an assholish thing to say "Girls like cooking and cleaning" I mean, yes they do (some, not all), but not for the act itself, they like to take care of the environment of their significant other
I do enjoy cooking but I'm shit at it and are basically banned from doing it in our house. I burn myself pretty much everytime I touch the oven. I absolutely hate cleaning. Obviously I still clean stuff so as to pull my weight in the house but I hate it so much.
There is some joy in cooking a nice meal, sitting down with people and having them enjoy it... but cleaning? I wash up at my friends houses but that's just to help them out, no one likes doing the dishes but that's why you do it for your friend. Somehow it's always so much easier to do other people's...
I used to but after being treated by crap last year by someone who didn't even deserve me and getting left behind for someone not in my league or even close I realize I need to start caring more about me, screw people. I actually love house chores though and caring for stuff, but I will save that for my dog, people can kick rocks with only socks on.
I certainly don't. If I had the house for myself for one week I'm going to relax all week and procrastinate all the cleaning in the last day before my parents got home so that they thought I do the cleaning everyday. I would make sure the house is squeaky clean when they got home. For cooking, the only cooking i would do is instant ramen and frying frozen foods. That's my level of cooking that I don't hate.
I love to cook for my family, my mom always tells me to make a salad because she likes how I make it, there are certain things I can't make. But I try my best to make it anyway without fucking it up.
I love to clean! Its like therapy for me, it relaxes me and the house is fresh and clean afterwards.
It depends on who you're doing them for, and honestly, how you were raised. If I truly cared for someone, or liked them enough, and spent enough time with them/at their place, I would eventually be comfortable enough to clean.
Personally, I like cooking, so why not share that yummy goodness, specifically if they can appreciate the thought of it? xD
No shit! I would never cook or clean for people. I really hate cleaning by the way, but do it anyway because, well, it's my house. And I like to cook for myself because I enjoy good food, not something tastes like shit. Yeah, you can say that i'm selfish, but whatever :P
I don't think so. I love cooking but mostly for the end result and I hate cleaning. A lot of men act like they're retarded when it comes to cooking or cleaning so it's left for the woman to take responsibility. I don't know any women that actually like cleaning and I've known several men that liked cooking.
I like cooking and baking. It's therapeutic for me. 😀 And cleaning.. I'll do it, but I don't like to be taken advantage of.. but I'll do it. Sometimes I like it when it's quiet but if it's too hectic or there are people around, I feel weird. :/
Personally I like cooking sometimes, but I dislike cleaning. My parents both clean and my dad always cooks, so I never realized it was a 'womenly job" until I got older haha.
