You shouldn't be worrying about this. If a guy doesn't like you because you're intelligent, then it means he was just trying to manipulate you in some way.
Now, there are some guys who will be a bit intimidated if you are SMARTER than him. When I say smarter, I'm talking about problem-solving abilities, or having had better grades in high-school, or having more degrees. I am NOT talking about someone who simply watches the news everyday and reads every single Times magazine that comes out. That isn't "smart". That's something else, which is completely unrelated to being smart.
Just because you know certain things that your boyfriend doesn't, doesn't make you smart. It just means you know things. But in that sense, if you're one of those people who like to know everything that's going on in the world every second of the day, and you like to discuss it, then you're probably not going to have a fun time with a guy who isn't interested in these things. Just like how a nerdy gamer isn't going to get along well with a girl who's never played a single game in her life and doesn't even know who Mario is.
I prefer women with more intellect. I find "smart' women more capable of holding a meaningful conversation, making smart decisions, and actually challenging me to possibly find new ways of looking at something, I don't know if this is just for older men though as I felt this way most of my life. In fact to be honest with you, women in my life that were not so "smart" just kind of rub me the wrong way. I get frustrated having to explain things that I feel most people should understand at normal intelligence. Also I find that these same women are more likely to fight and argue with you utilizing some random concept as the reason, ignoring all logic that may contradict the reason in the first place.
After sayin all this, after a few drinks and shots in the bar I am not so sure it matters so much.. lol
The men who don't like the fact that you are smart are not worth your time. I've had to "dumb down" before, and after a while it just became too much of a chore. I'm not pretentious or condescending, but I am not going to start hitting myself over the head like a cave man to make myself as idiotic as they want me to be.
Most men that I know (especially over the age of 24 and with college educations) prefer an intelligent girl (not necessarily a girl who can recite the theory of black holes) because they can actually communicate, relate, and most likely understand each other better.
Don't pull out the dumb girl card too often, because you may miss out on the guys who prefer the smart girls -- but also, you're showing off something you're not which could create problems on either side down the road.

If they are threatened they best pop open the text books...its pretty rediculous - it is o one jobs o dumb them self down to make any9one else feel comfortable.

Thank you for asking this. I've always wondered that too. especially in class if I get a really good grade on a test or something I've always felt embarrassed.. Especially if everyone else didn't do so great.. I've always thought being smart was a turnoff. I feel a lot better now(:

Intelligence, for me, is a requirement of any girl that I date. There is nothing attractive about stupidity. Nothing.
However, most girls I know who are really smart definitely let it go to their heads. They don't have the mentality of "OMG I have to be blonde and dumb and popular for anybody to like me!", but rather the mentality of "HAHA look at all of those other girls trying to conform to everybody else. I'm so much better than all of those dumb bitches." Don't let your intellect go to your head, because that's just as much of a turnoff as stupidity.
yes. You don't have to be a genius just open minded good sense of humor like to talk about serious things as well sometimes. Sure guys wanna get laid but I find that if a girl is not able to talk with some intelligence I get bored and don't even wanna go through the motions of trying to go out with her, I feel like some perv If I have some later goal in mind and don't enjoy our time together on a date. Obviously not all guys are the same. I almost wanna ask do girls like intelligent men. I have seen really smart women fall for the games of the most bone headed guys and also to put in the just friends category any guy who wants to have a serious conversation with them
Real men do. Those who do not are either "meat heads" or intimidated by women who challenge them. In fact, I for one love intelligent women as they have a wealth of knowledge to share and are better equipped emotionally in many respects than men; thus you are getting information from an intellectual and emotional level which is invaluable and more than likely well-founded than from a guy; we don't always use our brains to do the thinking, if you'll forgive the mental-image.
As for your situation-be yourself and I have no doubt the right person, who is mature enough to appreciate what he has before him, will come.
It's tough to be attracted to someone we don't see as our equal or better. It's easy to be attracted to someone we see as better than ourselves.
A woman's intelligence is only going to be threatening to a guy who's insecure about how bright he thinks he is.
My suggestion would be to not date guys who are insecure about your strengths. Never dull your brightness to appease some guy who's not worthy of your time.

I'd like them to be intelligent but not much more than I am. Very Intelligent women are intimidating and I feel like I have no chance with them so I don't even bother talking to them. I feel like I have to be like "Einstein" smart to be with them. Also its really annoying when women post on their profile and say things like, this one woman I met online and she said on her profile "I'm a smart female. Haha yeah, I said it. I'm probably smarter than you."
It would be great to have a woman that can teach me things that I don't know. But, I don't want them to be conceited. Also I don't want the woman to make it seem obvious that she's way smarter than I am in front of her friends.

It's awesome. She can make all of the good decisions. If she's smart, she'll get a better job than me and make good money. That way I can do something I really enjoy.. like.. work at Home Depot. No worries because she is smart and makes mad money. OR I could just be a stay at home Dad and send the kids to daycare so I can watch Sportscenter uninterrupted while she is at work.

Intelligent girls are great. They can hold conversations, with out worrying about that awkward pause.

I much rather have a intelligent conversation with a girl, then have to stop and explain every 5 seconds about a current event, or an event that happened in history, I happen to be majoring in Classical Greco-Roman History and Medieval Europe and the Middle East, with a minor in Political Science and Religion I don't mind explaining my major, but I have to explain current events that anyone can watch on the news its gets me pretty mad
I absolutely love intelligent women, if only because you don't generally have to worry about losing them when discussing topics outside the mainstream. An intelligent woman is more likely to be well read, and keep up with current events. As I'm a major politic geek, I enjoy being able to talk to a woman about current events without having her give me a blank look when I bring up something not on TMZ.

Ha, this is very true, guys like teaching you stuff. my boyfriend complained on a daily basis that I knew about everything, even breaking news before he did. and then one day I took him to the garage and asked him to open the hood and give me a lesson on engines. he loved being the teacher for once. it was hilarious, and we had a great time.
First of all - I am not a very higly intellectual person. I have no problem with the girl being intelligent. But if, because of her brain, she tries to put me down or tries to be cocky, I am not keeping her for a friend.
I think most guys like it but I think it becomes a problem when she thinks she knows everything and can never get anything wrong.
