Makes a mans features stand out more and look more mature and manly. Men like a defined jawline on women as well, a slimmer face for whatever reason just makes people find that person attractive.

men are subconsciously attracted to feminine women the same way that women are attracted to masculine men. A strong jawline is present when the bone structure is stronger, harder and more developped, which is typical to males. (sorry for my English, I'm French)

Strong jawline on a man is sign of high testosterone and it's a good sign when it comes to reproduction. It means the guy is fertile, strong and healthy.

Masculinity. Women seem to like signs of high testosterone and good genetics (supposedly). Others prefer a more feminine male.

Later studies, with larger samples and better direct hormone control have proved it's definitely not biological, rather cultural. There is no significant correlation to reproductive mechanisms so it's a cultural myth just like the terms "masculine" and "feminine" in my opinion. Also, please note that most prominent actresses and celebrities almost universally have a strong jawline (Angelina Jolie being the classic example) so it's a desired trait for two sexes (not gender, which is a diffent thing), while no studies have been conducted with intersexual partecipants. There's a growing percentage of heterosexual men being attracted to "fit" women, which is definitely far from the classic representation of healthy and fertile woman, just like the skinny, runaway model type is. Cultures change, so do preferences. We now have proof most of we think as masculine and feminine is cultural, whether society accepts what science has to offer is always up to morality and social/religious norms, which in turn, is definitely not science.

Well Id say the rounder the face, the more a person would look more like a baby. So maybe the jawline gives us the "strong big man" vibe?
