Why does she ignore me up close but stare at me from far away?

So this girl and I are really shy around each other. We can socialize with other people perfectly fine but around each other we fall apart and get really quiet near each other, it's the same deal in the halls, when we see each other we seem to awkwardly avoid eye contact but then sometimes I'll see her try and make it. She also stares at me when I'm not looking at her and am far away, up close she tends to ignore me. I've heard her mention my name a few times around her friends. I like her a lot and I tend to get shy around her too.

Why is she like this?

You could sure think of what on earth you could have done. Have you ignored her too? Have you been acting weird and you don't realize it. If a girl ignores you it means that she feels like you've been ignoring her too cos that's exactly what I did or else you've done something (she thinks) but you might not have, the best thing to do is to talk to her and ask her WHY that's what I would like the boy that is ignoring me at first do to me?
