Girl's Behavior

She ignores me, but stares at me from afar?

There is this girl I have a crush on. She is really pretty. She is extremely shy. We ate at the same lunch table last year, and we talked as acquaintances.

She used to look at me all the time. I started talking to her this year, and it is so hard when she only answers with a few words to go off of.

Now, I say hi to her, and she does, but sometimes she ignores me. I said Hi to her today, but I was coming out of the main doors to go to my car, and I saw her staring at me, but when I came out and said " Hi ******" she just ignored me, and I know she heard me. I was 3 feet away.

Was she doing this because she is nervous? She is a really nice girl and I would like to know why she is doing this.
