I don't even agree with that crap. Ruining their sex lives. But it is used to keep clean or to protect from bacteria that can turn into STD's. Also, if you clean with alcohol or whatever you got to use for it, I don't know. But I'm pretty sure you don't want to put chemical down there.

The materials some of them are made out of are very porous and can become a breeding ground for bacteria.

It’s to keep the toy clean. You have to understand that women’s genitalia are full of bacteria laden mucus. Most of those bacteria are beneficial, but using toy and not cleaning it properly would be like using the same tissue twice.
