Was it an old fellah? I usually don't hear many people use those terms unless they are over 60 but it deffinitly is a british term, I have never used it but the guy that said it to you didn't mean anything by it. It was just simply his lingual

I think he was being British.
i am also British. We use it more as a pronoun than a term of endearment. Basically, take 'hey darling" as "hey *insert your name here*"

British slang. Some Brits pepper their jargon with words like that, and 'love' or 'gorgeous'(as a noun). Nothing to read from it. I speak in an English accent myself, and use those words all the time.
These words don't mean anything, they're everyday terms of address for a girl in British slang.
In fact he wouldn't say them if he were serious about you in any way.Ya I don't think it means anything.. I am dating a british guy ... I wouldn't read into that
