It's not embarrassing when you do it. It's worth doing at some stage. The ancient greeks used to worship an underworld god Dionysus by drinking. The drink was thought to be a portal to the underworld and a way to see the underworld. If you get drunk, or even just hang around people who are drunk, you will understand exactly.
