I think my coach likes me?

Well, I'm in track, and he's the coach for sprinters and I'm in distance, and I've caught him looking at me at practice more than a couple times. He also subs for other classes and he recognizes me and looks at me. Then today I had to get my inhaler out of my bag and me and him were the only ones in the room and he wanted me to talk with him, but I had to leave for practice. The weird thing is, I actually have a crush on him. I know it's wrong if I act on these feelings because, obviously, it's illegal, but it just weirds me out. I don't know, it's just confusing...any advice?

Between gymnastics, soccer, track, and volleyball I've had a crush on my fair share of coaches, never went anywhere and I never expected it too. Coaches look at the people they coach, doesn't mean anything, how are they supposed to coach you if they don't look at you. At the same time your coach doesn't just have to be your coach and doesn't always have to talk to you about sports. They become your friends, they're the people who are going to push you to do things that you didn't think you could do and they're going to be the ones to motivate you along the way, it's not unusual for them to want to stop and chat with you every once in awhile, doesn't mean he has feelings for you.

But...he's not my coach, he coaches sprinters and I'm a distance runner...and it was more flirtatious and awkward...it just kinda scared me a little, especially because we were alone in a room together..

Just because he's not your coach directly doesn't mean he's not going to pay attention to you at all. When I was playing JV soccer the varsity coach would talk to me and when I played varsity soccer the JV coach would talk to me. Sometimes about soccer, sometimes about whatever. And sometimes girls frequently mistake being nice for flirting, especially when they have a crush on someone they feel they shouldn't

make sure you're never alone with him in a room. its okay for you to crush on a coach/teacher, but it is NOT okay for him to like you... ask a close friend to monitor the situation and find out if he really is looking at you in an inappropriate manner or if it's just coincidence/bad timing. but please make sure you're never alone with him. if you feel awkward/weird about it, talk to the school counselor.
