Unfortunately yes and there is a physiological reason behind it, there are quite noticible differences between the female's brain and male's, the part of the brain which is responsible for the contact between the right love and left love of the brain is called Corpus Callosum, which in girls are slightly larger than boys, that's why girls are so good in multitasking like by far, and the part which is responsible to recognize the distance between objects is weaker in girls, better to say have developed more in male's due to their responsibility to provide food and hunt
Women have worse spacial awareness. But I personally think the bigger reason is most women just don't care about cars or driving compared to men. I used to sell cars and women based everything on if it was 'cute' or the right colour, they just saw it as a tool like a washing machine. Men asked many questions, had a real love and passion for cars and took an active interest in being good drivers because they enjoyed it. Anectdotally, try passing a school with all the mums doing a school run and you'll see perfect examples of why women get a bad stereotype.
As far as I can tell most guys don't just assume we can't. Some people just suck regardless of gender. I've seen some girls drive and do thier makeup while on the phone. Is it safe? No. But that shit takes skill.

Guys tend to drive faster and more recklessly. Women tend to have more distractions when they drive, much like the picture in the question. I see women putting on makeup while driving almost every day. This is on the 55 freeway at 50+ mph. And talking while holding the phone , paying attention to the kids in the back seat rather than the road ahead, etc.
Its a stereotype from the 50s~60s when women were allowed to drive once a year, so they were simply inexperienced drivers.
im pleased to hear you can drive... thats as far as it goes for me...
From what I have seen, and I drive way more than most people, younger women (40 and under) and old men (60 +) are often the bad drivers.
I'm not one of them. Though many girls' driving is very bad.
Have seen most girls being in denial about their driving skills at least in my country.
Few females I know are good or even safe drivers.
