To be honest, I am not sure. Society has made us feel ashamed for things that don't make sense. It's not really intentional, but most women have been raised to be "modest", and if we do not give of a pure impression we are considered "sluty" by some. Women just don't want to be judged.

It's about the permission and context. Usually if someone it's upset you saw them in their underwear it's because they hadn't intended it. That's why you can become a sex offender for peeping through a window but not for going to the beach.

I’d like to start of by say there’s a difference between undergarments and swimwear and it comes down to the material it’s made of and what they both do I think we’re you’re confused is once again you as male believing everything is for YOUR gaze.

Bikini is more socially acceptable and social. If your in your bra and knickers there's a strong chance you dont want to be seen socially like this

Consent. If I'm in a bikini, I'm at the Beach having fun. Prepared for people to see me showing a lot of skin.

If I'm in my underwear, I'm at home in my safe space and thinking that no one except my boyfriend will walk in and see me.

I dont think I've ever been embarrassed by anyone seeing me in my underwear if its underwear that does cover as much as a bikini. But if it were a stranger and I was in like lace underwear then yeah that's a little uncomfortable

Well it depends on context, if it's the beach then it's fine if it were either bikini or underwear but if I'm in a public street id feel uncomfortable...

I would be very embarrassed to be seen in either. I am too chubby to wear a bikini and have been for years. I do not even go to the beach anymore because a one-piece is too embarrassing.:(

This confuses me as well. My friends who weigh 90 pounds are like oh I am too fat to wear a bikini. I am pushing 200 pounds and still wear one. I hve gotten some seriously dirty looks but I just flip them off and keep going.

Because a bra is made to look more sexual, underwear tends to be more sexy looking than bikinis, Push up, lacy etc, also bikini 👙 just feels different even if it shows the same amount of skin or more.

I agree, and that’s why I don’t wear bikinis to the pool or beach. I wouldn’t be caught dead out in public in my underwear, so why would I dress like that just because there’s a body of water nearby?

Why? I chose that bikini set and i chose to look like that expecting other people were there. But chilling in my blood-stained underwear and bra that's falling apart is not something i want anyone to see despite the amount of skin shown

I have actually tried to figure this out myself. When I am in a bikini I have no problem taking a photo and posting it, but I would never even think of posting a photo in my underwear and bra.

Well, it's a good question. The answer is they feel differently on. Bathing suits tend to be thicker. And undies are very thin and light. So I "feel" more exposed.
