Might be a stupid question but why do women get embarrassed wearing underwear but not bikinis when sometimes bikinis are more revealing?

And especially when it is normal to see women in their underwear on TV and film. I guess they are embarrassed to be seen in their My Little Kitty-themed knickers.

Bikinis are thicker material and have a little "padding" in the crotch that underwear doesn't have to cover the contours a little. It's not much, but sometimes underwear just has a little strip of absorbent material and the rest being lace.

When wearing bikinis, they consent to be seen as such.
Underwear is also taught from young age that it's to be hidden from the public.

even though bikinis and bras/undies look the same and cover the same amount for some reason we've decided as a society that one is super appropriate to show everyone and one is really not so that's why

i wouldn't be embarrassed for that ever but this difference is only due to so called norms made by our society n nothing else really
