To be quite honest, knowing what I know about human behaviour and history, the answer is repressed homosexuality. When you ask "shouldn't sexuality be reserved for the opposite sex?" The answer is no. Why should it. Human sexuality has actually evolved to help us get along in tribes of varying hierarchy. Reproductive sex and recreational or therapeutic to be more specific - sex have different purposes. Women have always been very selective when it comes to choosing partners. Through most of human history, up until the last couple of thousand years when civilisations began, just a few men in a large tribe had the affection and control over most of the women. Some men would never have the luxury and homosexuality evolved in both men and women as a type of release. Not for the purposes of reproduction but for mental health. If they didn't do this, they would either be killed by the bigger, stronger males who controlled the women or they would have to try and rape the women at the risk of injury and further punishment. A lingerie party with only women, clearly has homosexual implications and even if the web are not engaging in homosexual sex, they are unconsciously acting on an ancient instinct for self gratification among themselves.
So the result of this history is that people who engaged in homosexuality survived. That's why it persists today. Pretty much all of human behaviour comes back to Darwin (outdated now) or the proverbial tangled tree of evolution.

Non sequitur aside, the answer to your question is it's no different than bridal showers, baby showers, Pampered Chef parties, Tupperware parties, Mary Kay cosmetics parties and so on. The primary reason is someone is selling something (at least making things available to order), and those sellers typically invite friends, and friends of friends. Being able to see people I haven't seen in a while and meet new women is a secondary product. Cosmetics and apparel is something I'd rather choose myself if I'm even interested rather than rely on someone to buy it for me. It seems rather dumb to spend so much money on lingerie, the idea of which is for it to come off, so if I buy something at a women's only party just to support someone trying to make some money (especially during a pandemic) and I end up re-gifting it. And when it comes to lingerie it isn't all about men and what they think, it's also what the one wearing it thinks. It isn't always about sexuality and some decision that should be made together either, because leave it to men they often will go for the sluttiest most mismatched lingerie set they can find. Go to Victoria's Secret and see the men standing outside waiting on their wives/s. o. to finish shopping - like going in there would expose a guy to too much estrogen, and heaven forbid he would turn into a wedding planner or interior decorator. Whether man or woman, we all need some time to ourselves and pursue our own interests and other sets of friends. If guys want to go on a hunting trip to shoot feral hogs, sit around a campfire eating large quantities of beans and fart freely, it's no big deal to me. Some guys exclude women from their sports parties (one ended up trashing my furniture and living room).
As a final note, if you're upset because you're not invited to women only even as I described above, after I attended a couple of these I usually make a presence, drop off a gift if it's a shower, visit for a few minutes, then find an excuse to leave. If you've been to one you've been to a lot of them, and hanging around for the entire event will sometimes make you want to stick a gun barrel in your mouth and pull the trigger.
