Why do women say they're not attracted to muscular men?

Not_Average
This one really puzzles me. I was average prior to college. I ended up getting heavily into bodybuilding throughout college. Took steroids and all. My peak was around 240lbs 10% body fat. No longer living that life. From first hand experience, I can tell you that I got A LOT more attention from women when I was at my peak. I mean A LOT more. It was a day and night difference.

My theory is that women often associate a muscular physique with arrogance, low IQ, uneducated, and being financially insecure. As soon as you break down that barrier and showcase that you are successful in other areas of life as well, they become instantly attracted. That is in regards to long term prospects and dating on an emotional level. Women often want to just fuck you when you're built like a GI-Joe, and then never talk to you again.

I find a massive disparity with reality and what I read on here. Another theory of mine is that they become insecure about their own body. They assume that you'll see them as unattractive and cheat on them with better options. Little did most know, I was a bit of a chubby chaser at times when I was in college.

OR... they have had a bad experience with some meathead in the past. Or maybe they are just of the minority of women who just don't like muscle even though being fit and possessing high amount of testosterone is universally and biologically attractive.

What are your thoughts? I've been thinking about this for years, and still haven't formulated a solid answer/
