Guys, do you like being comforted by girls?

Kind of curious. I know some prefer to be alone when they're upset and dislike any sort of comfort, so I'm asking just in general as opposed to a specific situation. Could be anywhere from a girl noticing you're having a bad day and she gets concerned to if you're really upset and she wants to comfort you. Most girls like it when guys do, but vice versa?

It really depends on the situation and the girl. Every guy will be different, too. I think that most people like being comforted in general, though, even though it's better when it comes from someone really close to you that you trust.

One of my closest friends is a girl, and she's great for that. I don't tend to whine a lot, but if I ever end up talking about some stressful situation I'm in, she never tells me what I should have done differently. Instead, she just listens, empathizes, reassures me, and tells me what she would do. A lot of times they're the same solutions that I've arrived at myself, but there have been certain times when I've almost felt too crippled by stress (or whatever else) to go through with them. There's just something so calming about the way she takes in the whole situation and says (in her naturally calm voice), "It's gonna be okay [maybe insert examples why]. You just need to do this, this, and this, and it's gonna be alright." It's like entire situations are suddenly boiled down to to-do lists, and all the stressful details surrounding them that can't be changed no longer matter. Most of my worries dissolve and I can get things done quickly. As cheesy as all that sounds, it's just awesome to have somebody who can show you the light at the end of the tunnel and care about you enough lend you encouragement and guidance as you climb your way out.

I can handle things on my own. It's just that it feels so much easier when you have somebody in your corner sometimes.

Most guys' remedy to curing a crap situation is to either fix it or take your mind off of it, but most girls want to talk about the problem and express their feelings - not necessarily offering a solution.

That being said, it's okay if a girl wants to show me that she is on my side and cares about how I feel - or if she wants to accompany me to the bar or something to forget about my issue, but I usually don't feel like talking in depth about what's bothering me unless we are discussing specific ways to fix the situation.

I prefer to be alone and fix my own problem myself. If I knew a girl that was good at comforting me however, I personally would love the attention if it was just us two. If she tried comforting me in a less private situation, I would appreciate it but at the same time feel emasculated lol

Most of my time when I'm upset, its because of a problem that could be resolved by talking about it. I found it really lame when gals would try to comfort me in more distant or shallow ways :/. I suppose if I was a dude that worked really hard in a un-creative job, the distant or shallow ways to cheer someone up would be nicer.

By girls? No. Our problems are not like what girls think about. If however I trust her and maybe she's even close to me either as a good friend or a lover, than I can dump some of my problems. But that means I only vent, do NOT want advice!

Hmm. What kind of gender differences do you think there are with your/guys' problems, and why wouldn't you want advice?

I've learned the hard way people treat you bad if you open up, as a guy. Whatever the reasons, however, guys like to solve problems on their own.

Girls dwell on a problem for days, we just want to solve it and move on.

it really depends on many variables, buts in most cases its a no for me. 95% of the time, I keep stuff to myself and I never grew up getting any sort of comfort, I've never hugged my parents, and never let females hug me before.

I guess it would depend on the situation. If it's a problem that I don't know how to deal with, then usually I like to be left alone to figure it out by myself. If I'm just not having a great day and a girl notices, then I'd say yes.

I grew up having to stand on my own. This type of treatment would make me feel petty and weak... don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for the comfort, but comfort isn't what made me who I am today.

Yeah id definitely say a lot of guys prefer being comforted by a girl. I think guys are often more comfortable with showing a girl their emotions, as girls are usually very mature at dealing with this type of thing.
