She Rejected me and now she doesn’t leave me alone. what do I do?

A few weeks ago I asked out a girl friend and she rejected me. I took it on the chin, accepted her decision and ignored her for a few days to get over it. According to a friend she got all emotional so I still keep in contact with her by giving her short responses.

Since Rejecting me, She doesn’t stop messaging me. I’ll have a conversation with her via text and keep it limited. but then usually after 5-6 hours of no contact she will find ways to message me, whether it be text or by sharing a post on social media.

Why is she doing this?

I think she’s probably feeling very bad about rejecting you, and is taking your absence as you saying that you don’t want anything to do with her anymore. She is worried that she will lose you as a friend because you’re taking space. You have every right to take space however, so I would just honestly tell her (if you still want to be friends) “Listen, I’m distancing myself from you so I can reconfigure our relationship in my mind. If I don’t do this, I won’t be able to be the friend you need me to be. This is not your fault, nor is it a punishment. Please give me time, and I will reach out when I’m ready.”

I'm confused? If she's a friend, why wouldn't/shouldn't she contact you?
You said you contacted her? And that was okay. So why is it an issue if she contacts you? If you don't want to talk to someone or be friends with them, then be upfront and honest about that. And if you don't want messages from her then you shouldn't message her either.

Since she rejected me she contacts me continuously, before it wasn’t extreme as that.

Girls love attention. The moment you stop, that's when she starts chasing. She rejected you, she should know better. Maybe she feels bad for rejecting you and now that you changed giving your attention, energy and even your friendship she misses it. So she contacts you. You can always confront her and ask her? If you continue to ignore her she might continue to chase you.

It’s probably because she doesn’t want to lose you as a friend
