Is software engineering best career for women?

Flexible hours option of working from home and you can also do freelancing from home and can join any industry from tech to finance and get high paying job. I mean it is better for working mom than receptionist or nurse where you need to be physically present and hours are not flexible. and you can easily come back after career break.

also you can get job right after college many career require master or even phd for good salary like psychology or accountancy you also need cpa for it or are very long like doctor and you also can get job in any city even small one. also working hours are not very long and so flexible. wages are high and can work in any sector

Computer work is stressful which is why it’s paid so much, for some it’s like listening to a scratching chalk board for 8-10 hours a day because that is how irritating solving problems is for many.

Yes but isn't it flexible? If you have kids than you can work from home or do part time or freelancing and take care of them? and you can easily start career after career break

also you don't even need to work as software engineer this major open door for almost any field you can work in high finance as a quant or in retail or join a consultancy etc you don't need to become software engineer

Not all people choose a career for comfort or good pay. Some people choose that because of a vocation or because they just like it. And you mentioned nursing, I think that career is mostly vocational.

Software developer can go to almost any second do you know in high finances for quant position they prefer people with programming knowledge? math skills also help if you want to become data analyst of any sort than programming skills would help you almost all sectors require analyst for finance marketing etc and you can also learn web designing etc so job are not limited at all

Lol it is job not hobby I don't see how it is boring maybe because there are some misconception about it in my country anyone don't think that engineers are nerds etc unlike USA and high paying job can make any job interesting and skills that they would learn from that degree would help them in any sector.

and they also don't need master degree actually there are even many self taught software engineer so if you want than you don't even need a degree you are underestimating how good it is for women.

If you are stuck in a job you don't enjoy thats really bad for your health. You need a job you enjoy doing on most days. If thats the case for you and software engineering thats good, but i know plenty of men and women who are better off anywhere else.

but with engineering major you can get job almost anywhere. you don't really need to work as software engineer it just open so many doors also most people don't enjoy their job do you think a receptionist enjoy their job? Lol they do it because that's all they can find and plus it is low paying and so many people are rude

I think that kind of Jobs are boring for most Women. That's the reason why Not many women do that job

How is engineer software a good career compared to owning your own business? See the game can be played both ways. I've raised 3 kids while working full time, part time. 2 jobs. I did what I had to do to provide for my family and children. About 20 years ago my ex husband and I opened a business together and have been successful. Financially and time constraint wise it's been a very good thing. However it could have just as easily backfired. You're career choice is highly saturated and heavily reliant on external factors beyond your control, such as continuing education, consumer preference, and an ever-changing market. It's not the right choice for everyone. Grow up.

I mean a software engineer can open a software company or it consultancy even make some app etc if he want to do business but for opening business you need money and there is so many risk involved you can become bankrupt.

I am not but I don't think fine art is that bad if you are actually good in it like interior design or graphic design etc you can open business etc lol but most people who are doing it are doing it because it is easy or they don't know what to do or just want a degree

Well I was referring to history and philosophy. There are hardly any jobs for those majors, I was a history major and had to go to graduate school in education in order to find work. Plus Professors do their utmost nowadays to avoid making history interesting, namely in that they increasingly don't teach history, they just teach out of Postmodernist/deconstructivist philosophy books, few facts just theories
