What advice would you give to teen girls about to have their first period?

Many women have regrets or good memories with their mothers etc, but especially for girls with two dads, what advice would you give them?

I would say make your daughter feel special on the day she gets her first period. It is a big deal, as she is entering womanhood in a sense. It’s the beginning of something new for her, so treat it as such. I would recommend buying her the chapter book called “Are you there, God, it’s me Margaret “. It’s a good book for a girl about to embark on puberty. Oh and take her to buy maxi pads.

Don't worry.. it's a natural process... ur body is all fine... it will happen for few days only. Take care of urself. Don't pickup heavy stuff in those days. Eats healthy food. Don't walk or jump too much... u might get stomach cramps

My mom handled it very well. She bought me a kit with all the feminine protection items available in the early-mid 1990s. It also came with a video about puberty that I found quite helpful.

I wish my mom had stressed the difference between a maxi pad and a pantyliner because I had a pretty bad leak at school. I was so embarrassed.
.
I also think it’s important to explain it’s the body’s natural process of preparing to have a baby, but that doesn’t by any means make you ready to have a baby at the time you get it.

It is normal, and there are different types of products to help you (may be worth investing in a small pack of different products such as the pads/tampons/ extra pants etc). and maybe seeing about some type of informative video from youtube etc to help the child learn about it without the awkwardness of the dads being there if that helps too. May also be worth having a female they look up to able to chat with the child if they have any further questions to help ease their confusion.

my sister had told me about it so i always had this emergency kit ready to go but then it happened at home and was no big deal

there was a TV show i don't remember what where it happened to a girl and the mom said, "just find any woman and she'll help you" and i think that's true, i would help if a girl came to me. usually at that age there would probably be teachers around

I’d tell her to not be afraid to talk to her friends about it because it’s coming for them soon too. It helps to not feel alone and wonder if certain things are normal.

Yes to both. I want to learn more about first periods so I can be a better father to my daughters when the time comes.

Also me and my Mrs are into menstral sex.
