Why isn’t nice to ask a girl/woman her age?

In general, it's just proper manners. I'm not of the age to care when someone asks me but I've been told growing up that it's bad to ask.
Other than that I think it has to do with our self esteem. A lot of women are only complemented on their looks, mostly when they are young and beautiful. And as everyone knows your looks go away with time.
I think a lot of us are just scared that our beauty, the one thing we get complimented on, is fading away and we'll become less important or noticeable. We are reminded that we are getting less and less attractive when someone asks us our age.
So, in short, we don't like to be reminded that we aren't young and desirable anymore.

Its only offensive to old people. Women who are like 35+ seem too embarassed to answer. Those of us under that age dont seem to mind

Probably because age and beauty correlates, and is in essence the defining factor for attractiveness for male attention. It’s lik asking, «how unattractive are you». It’s not usually a problem with women in their 20’s but be carefull.

It's very hard to tell a woman's age, often they look younger than they are. I spent a lot of time in Asia, guessing a woman's age is almost impossible.

I usually don't ask women or men their age because it isn't any of my business. I think in general it's just disrespectful.
