I try to say hi to my crush everyday and some days she say hi back and some days she just smiles?

I have a huge crush on this girl at work. Haven't had the opportunity to ask her out as she works in a different department. When i see her in the hallways i try to say hi to her and sometimes she says hi back or she just smiles. Does it mean anything or could she just be being friendly?

Also, i usually don't say hi to random girls but she did smile at me once before i started saying hi to her.

Pursuing someone you work with is one of the worst ideas. If things don’t work then you’re stuck having awkward interactions, becoming the gossip at work, ruining your professional appearance and tiptoeing around each other as not to have to interact at all. A lot of people have no desire to do that and she couple very that sort of person. On top of that, you don’t know her personal life, if she’s involved with anyone, etc. Her smiling and saying hey or whatever is just the kind thing to do, I don’t believe she has the same feeling behind it that you do.
