he's a friend's friend, I don't really know him but i've met him. I saw him the other day at my friend's house. He was lying on the couch but when I came in, he shifted his body a bit. I said hi to everyone but he didn't say anything. Is he shy or doesn't care about me at all?

He maybe is in polite or not interested... I wouldn't say that this is was a shy behavior he choose to ignore you.
