Also, whenever they tell about the approaches they took for performing any activity, they hate if start suggesting alternatives.
How true is it?
Generally, they're not; they just want to vent. I said here the other day that perhaps the school system should teach students a semester of the opposite gender's psychology, and it's this sort of thing that makes me think that: a simple preface of "I'm going to tell you something, but I'm not looking answers, okay? I just want you to hear me." could avoid a LOT of fights. And even if you don't DATE the opposite sex, you'll be interacting with them your whole life.
No. They just want you to listen and validate their thoughts and feelings.
To make it easier to discern, just ask then this. "Do you want me to listen or do you want my advice?"
Sometimes we just need someone to listen and sympathize.
For me personally, I hate sympathy and I want some solutions from my boyfriend. If there’s nothing to solve, I will tell him I just want him to listen and give his opinion if applicable.
I’m not looking for a solution. Most of the time I just want someone to listen to me, let me rant a little, and be supportive.

I'm often looking for support, which could include a solution or simply listening to whatever is going on. Sometimes, we just want someone to listen and care. Other times, it is for help (or solution).
U just worked out that women sometimes just want to be heard and not be given answers?
You still enjoying bacon and shrimp?
Good man! 👍
Nope they don't want a solution or anything like that, they just want to vent and for someone to listen to them
Most of the time I just want to vent to my husband. He is a “I want to help fix it” type though.
They just want you to give them assurance that you're on their side. Not suggestions
Sometimes. But most the time they just want you to listen.
It makes them feel better to vent.
