If that is true, it all lies in "nurture". The gender difference? Almost all people that post pics (provocative or not) online happen to be women. They're desperate because they desire us so badly. They really want us. Seeking male validation is not really the problem (although excess of anything is wrong). The problem? Many are afraid to admit why. It's called "lying". If many men only knew, they'll take that as a compliment. Women face countless competition vs other women online and may take their frustrations out on men (depends on the girl). I don't think women are "self-absorbed". That's impossible. They want to be desired because they desire men. Men desire women, and also want to feel desired. Unfortunately, generally it seems women only want to be desired whereas men only desire. But reality is something else. *NOTE: everything I've mentioned applies to men as well, but I'd wish more men would start showing off online also.

Attention is a hardcore drug to many women and they can't resist snorting it. I mean it really fires off the same parts of the brain that doing drugs would. Men have a different problem which is getting high from simply seeing an attractive female visually... unless he's trained himself to be able to ignore/switch that off at will.

Avoid women hooked on social media if you can.

For more attention. They can filter/edit even more than with just make up. They get dopamine released when they get likes and comments. They live sad lives and use it as a bandaid.
