I cannot speak for her because she’s in a relationship, but a single person, I would think it beats having to deal with all of the work required to maintaining a relationship.. If some people are okay with just getting their sexual needs met because the other needs are met somewhere else, then that’s fine.. I don’t see why society is so hard on women for doing what men have been doing for years. Lol everyone shames women who are open about their sexuality and when we say we don’t want a relationship. (This isn’t directed at you.)
Why is maintaining a relationship so much work?
Why are there so many requirements and complex rules?
Why can't it be simply based upon meeting mutual needs as all other relationships are based?
It seems like culture has lost track of the propose of relationships and tacked on far too many unnecessary and burdensome requirements that make the whole deal far more demanding than it needs to be.
Because now if you’re in a relationship and you’re having mental health issues, you’re “neglecting” your partner, so most people would go cheat instead of help you.. Another thing is people see, maintaining their emotions, or self control as too much. That’s just a few things, I’ve heard from many people that being in a relationship requires too many demands, even though, those very same people are doing EVERYTHING that you would do in a relationship. The only difference being you’re not my girlfriend/boyfriend, so I owe you no loyalty. That’s the mindset of most people that are dating now.. everything has become such a game, most people don’t want to play that game anymore.
I agree with you, the relationships need to go back to how they were in the 50s, marriages were successful back then.. But the reason why people don’t want that now days is because they focus on the negative, “women had not rights.” “Women were in abusive relationships” “are you saying that you want to be abused” that’s what I hear when I’ve brought up this subject. I think it’s sad how life is losing it’s value and importance.. Nobody values anything anymore, or so it seems.
We do seem to be seeing a almost parental child relationship expectation among many people in terms of the level of emotional self-control.
This could be a result of toxic examples in media and/or the rise of broken families leading to little in the way of stable adult relationships to model on.
This stands in contrasts with non-familial relationships which are or rather can be quite a bit more reasonable and mature with the same people. Clearly we could address the toxic media examples and leverage the more professional relationships models to rebuild the romantic relationship.
Yes, you made a great point. I do agree with that, I was taking with some colleagues about this and they stated similar things to you. One of my colleagues has a degree in psychology and she would also say broken families were a common factor.
One woman is not the majority. I feel your sample size is flawed.
