Why did she get so upset about this?

We've agreed that for the time being it's impossible for us to date seriously because of the distance. We live in different countries.

Then we were chatting earlier today, and I mentioned that I was going out tonight. She asked what I was planning on doing, and I mentioned a woman I'm dating.

She got upset, said she doesn't want to hear about it, and told me she had to go?

Because 9/10 she still has feelings for you (no matter how big or small the feelings are) and therefore cannot be a proper friend. I always tell my friends that unless they are over their ex and healed then a friendship is impossible. She’s not ready to hear about you dating, advising you about it or just anything a friend would be able to do. What’s more is that she probably doesn’t truly want your friendship, but just to stick around in hopes that you two will be able to rekindle at some point. If I were you I’d do some things to really cement the separation, like talking less and giving her both the space to heal and understand you two are over. Otherwise this will keep happening and it’s unfair to you, as you try and move on.

Move on. She has feelings for you and is not able to just be a friend. So no, she doesn’t want to hear about other women, even if you’re an ocean apart from each other.
