This is one of those matters where I am not asking her permission. If I have a son I am teaching him EVERYTHING I know about being a man, including camping. Just like if we have a daughter I would not deny her anything related to mommy-daughter bonding, she will not deny me bonding with my son how I choose. Then again this type of issue would be hashed out before I even proposed to her.
