Girls, why do women spend so much time taking care of their appearance?

see girls try to impress their crushes but most of time in my friend circle we do makeup and take care of our appearance just because we like it or there is also sometimes in my circle if you don't take care of your appearance the other girl will be like are you even girl why you so messed up so it's not like we do make over or look after our appearance for boys only it is mostly that no one should say something about my appearance as we girls think that everyone will taunt us and we didn't like others to give a compliment about ourselves she doesn't look bad and it also give a good vibe to girls

When I was younger, for many years I wouldn't go out of the house unless I had my makeup on.
I liked to look nice for not only myself, but to be a person that is nice to look at. So, it's both.
However, I am just now finding out that a lot of guys prefer a girl that doesn't wear any makeup. They seem to like the natural look. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s literally ALL of these. We spend so much time because it makes us feel better about ourself also sometimes to attract guys and also a lot of it is just society like almost ever girl wears make up so it’s such a norm all girls do it same with like shaving yk?

I’m assuming they base their social opportunities on their physical beauty - I try to fixate on conversation cause beauty is an unstable factor, you could gain it or lose it in a matter of seconds or months.
