Do guys care when a girl is on her period?

I always hear about guys making fun of girls when they're on their period. Little do they know it's a very stressful and painful process. It can even be so painful that it's agonizing and she might have to miss work or school which has happened to me many times. Do guys even care or is it just another way for them to make fun of us?
