Anonymous(30-35)+1 yBiologically, women do, what with periods and pregnancy to deal with. Socially, it's definitely guys, though.
Since all of this stuff has been said already, I'll counter a few female points.
"Girls are pressured by the media that they HAVE to be good looking"
So are guys. Pretty much any male that's worth anything is tall, handsome, and gorgeous. Fat, short, or ugly guys are used exclusively for comic relief at their expense. The only reason that women are more directly targeted is because the media is trying to sell stuff, and women are more likely to buy it on impulse.
"Women have to spend an hour just to look presentable enough to go outside"
No, they don't. For most, the preparation is unneeded, and depending on what you do, actually makes you look worse. Makeup is not a requirement, but an option of improving your appearance artificially (if you do it right, anyway). For males, that option barely exists, and is heavily frowned upon unless you're a movie star or a model. Girls are expected to make themselves look good, and men are expected to just look good naturally.
"Women have to work harder in the gym to lose weight"
Yes, that's very true. However, men are typically the ones doing muscle building, which requires FAR more effort than weight loss for either gender.
"Less than beautiful women have no options"
Less than beautiful women can actually approach guys. Most women want to not have to approach, but still get hit on by stunning guys. Either get better looking, lower your standards, make the approach yourself, or do all three. The options are there, but most refuse to take them.
"Girls have periods"
Alright, I'll give you that one.
"Girls have PMS"
Fun fact, PMS is a valid legal defense for violent crime. link
Other than that, I'll give it to you. Guys are expected to deal with women's PMS in stride, though.
"Girls have to deal with pregnancy"
True, dealing with pregnancy doesn't sound like fun. However, in the event of the pregnant man, there was tons of public backlash against it, saying that he was stealing motherhood from women. It cannot be argued both ways. Also, women get maternity leave and get to go off of work, whereas men do not have such an option.
"Girls have to deal with rape"
True, women are more at risk for sexual assault or rape than men are. However, most women do not take any precautions against that sort of thing. I know a girl personally that always carried pepper spray with her, but admitted that she "had no idea how to use it". Also, men are victims of sexual assault and rape, but the American legal system just laughs if such a thing is taken to court.52 Reply- +1 y

I agree with most hings. One thing I dont though is that boys can't wear makeup and is frowned upon. Guys can wear coverup and concealer if done right. I know many normal teenage guys who do and no they aren't gay. Men aren't expected to have long eyelashes and everything, so if they apply that it is stange aha.

Well, socialy guys have a harder time getting along with each other. Because some have this 'alpha male' tryhard personality. These guys usualy get popular, and talk trash to modest guys. Our social interactions resemble the viciousness of lions sometimes. Sometimes this can lead to fist fights. Girls don't really have this.
Guys can't use make-up, for obvious reasons, so we can't cover up imperfections like women do. Women also have it easier to have a nice body, all they have to do is make sure they don't gourge too much, and muscle up their legs to look sexy. Men have to train for years to get a six pack, and overall larger muscles.
Then in the dating scene, women have an automatic advantage with makeup and the low-maintnance female body. Due to the fact that women are more 'submissive' in a way, with a lack for a better word of it. Guys usualy have to chase up the girl, and get her attention.
Sure girls have periods, but I'm pretty sure there's a pill for that. But ignoring that fact, it's not that big of a deal, just whack on a tampond every few hours. And with child birth, it's not completely neccisary. You don't have to have a child.
For some reason I think this will get a lot of thumb downs.36 Reply
Asker+1 ywell you won't get a thumbs down from me =)

Studies have actually shown that men can lose weight faster than women. Gaining muscle is not the same as losing weight. Personally, I feel that men have it more difficult than women, but I've never been a woman, so I can't say for sure. Men actually have more difficulties in life than women think. I took a sociology course which discussed the double standards women place on men.

I think it doesn't depend on the gender, but the specific individual.
For example: my father had to have a lung transplant and almost died, we have been in poverty for my whole life, I was iscolated in school and was talked about behind my back, I was emotionally and mentally abused and still am by my parents, and so on. Not everyone has this, so you can't generalise genders. - +1 y
I agree with nearly all of that except the body bit. I don't stuff my face, I'm fairly thin, not a flat stomach but still not considered chubby, but I wouldn't say that's what it takes to have a decent body. Besides I hate muscly guy, just really is not my thing >< I just like thin but there's more to a girls body than just being thin because if that's all it took I should be loved by all... But I'm not.

This is absurd! Periods can be extremely painful resulting in days off work, the hormonal changes can result in stress, depression and heavy mood swings. The female body, unlike you perceive it, requires an extraordinary amount of maintenance to appear 'feminine': its' just been normalised so you don't perceive it. The feminine beauty industry is enormous/ trillion dollar industry. Women also have the competition you mention between men; its just expressed differently because we are socialised differently. I think you don't understand women.
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI think it depends on the person. If the girl or guy is a nice person and they are happy go lucky, they will have a nice life. they will make friends, find a good job, get whatever they want to make them happy.
If they are not a nice person and always out to make people feel bad, and just really mean... they will not have such a nice life. they will not make too many friends, they will have a hard time finding a job, and whatever they want... they won't get it.01 Reply
+1 yGirls lives are far more complicated and far more fulfilling than that of a guy's. It may not seem that way sometimes because social traditions and the media impose a patriarchal and otherwise sexually biased viewpoint. Neurologically we're hardwired to multitask more effectively which allows us to have more multifaceted interests and facilitates a more open mind about the world.

As an adolescent girls they have expectations to be beautiful, pure, educated, and are prepared to be a wonderful woman and mother in the future. As a young adult and adult men because they are expected to be the bred winners, established, and responsible for his well being as well as others.

the 9 months are horrible 9 months by the way.
i wish I can just work without pms or anything else we girls go through.
and with that, too,we females work =>
-we have to handle the male gender annoying actions,we never feel safe going alone anywhere.57 Reply- +1 y
BUt you can't avoid pms, mood swings, the world won't accept a woman if she is A bad looking woman, the male gender annoying actions, stresses, women have to take care of everything even the male gender Themselves.
Im Not trying to be mean to males but that's the fact. - +1 y
you dont need to go through child birth, having a child is a decision, not a rule. Noone is forving you to have sex. And men have to be good looking to, if we dont look good we get judged by not only the girls we hang around but the other guys aswell. and as to not feeling safe going anywhere... thats a little childish, im sure even the most premature girl is easily able to go places she's never been or places she's going to alone, as long as she has a sense of direction. and there are pills you can take for periods so in reality thats not an excuse.

@haljordan Have you ever had a single period in your life...
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yIf its purely on appearance:
Hot girl > Hot guy> Ugly guy> Ugly girl
My argument - Men focuses more on physical needs then women, hence in partner seeking, there's a higher chance that 'ugly women' are overlooked.
On inner:
Smart male > Smart female
In most society, male to female ratio in workplace, male are still higher, plus female are still expected to take greater responsibility in child rearing (giving birth, close physical and mental ties) So a female may not be fully able to utilise her knowledge11 ReplyIt has nothing to do with the gender. Its upto an individual , that whether one has made one's life hard or easy.
As far as girls are talking about carrying a baby for 9 months. If you have physical pain. Then guys really feel that pain emotionally. and they really care and getting worry about their girl all the time.12 Reply- +1 y
Thats nice =) But We feel the pain both emotionally and physically.. not only physically.. that's why mAny women sometimes get angry over nothing.
- +1 y
have you ever thought that, when a guy feel the emotional pain, he hardly tell it to anybody, and when you girls are already in pain (physical and emotional), he won't tell you to make your pain worst. and besides this emotional pain, he has to deal with his external work as well.
Neither sex has it harder than the other. Each sex has baggage to it. I think girls go through more physical pain, by just being women than guys do. If neither fought or was abused. And I think guys probably go through more emotional pain than girls...
Asker+1 yid take physical pain over emotional pain any day! but that's just me judging from what I have been through.
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yI would say guys. Women don't have to worry about being tricked into raising someone else's baby, because her man had an affair. It is too easy for a woman to take away a mans child. She can lie, and claim he hit hear and he will be treated as guilty until proven innocent. If a woman does beat a man, people just make fun of him. If an older man rapes a young girl, people feel sorry for the girl, but if an older woman rapes a young boy, people tell the boy he is lucky and he should shut up.
20 ReplyGirls definitely I mean we bleed for seven days every month we have PMS and get sh*tty cause of it, then you expect us to something the size of a watermelon a baby which we have to carry for 9 months and we have to go through menopause ahhhh lol I think we know whose life is harder WOMEN'S lol :)

+1 yi think neither gender actually has it harder, i believe each gender activly tries to make it hard on themselves.
Girls are always trying to improve their physical image, or by having a child.
Guys are also trying to build up their body image and trying to impress girls who make it harder.
Neither gender has it worse, sure there are some major disadvantages to each gender like periods for girls and for guys maintaing a constant state of composure.
But there are ways to stop them so there's actually no problem.
and for people that say "Women, because we have to go through child birth" you dont have to and there are actually studies that say the same amount of pain that women go through when they have a child is similar if not the exact same as when a guy gets hit in the nuts.00 Replyit all depends where you're from.
both sexes have their own bagagge of hard work to carry along. I don't think one could say either is harder, but rather that the life is different10 Reply
+1 yWe all have it hard at some point. A girls life can be harder than a guys but then there can be a guy's life that's harder than a girls.

Men don't seek out help or resources for mental health as often as women do. At least that's what it's like here.
- +1 y
Depression isn't the only cause of suicide. Bad situations that can't be resolved by antidepressants or counselking or therapy or whatever, also cause it. There's very little help out there for men in comparison to women when it comes to abuse, homelessness or employment. Social workers here are required to give a homeless woman shelter for the night and food when asked; they're required to send a man away with nothing - men make up 90% of the homeless here. 4/7 of the unemployed, 40% of university graduates (50% less likely than women to find employment after graduation) yet the focus is still on getting more women into work. Men here make up 40% of domestic violence victims, yet there are only 25 dv shelters for men; there are over 4000 for women. Those are just acfew examples. To say that men don't get help is wrong, because it simply isn't there when they need it.
- +1 y
I never said men don't get help. I said they don't seek it out as much as women do. I'm not sure where you live or where you got your statistics from (or if you just made them up), but yeah I agree there should be more resources available. Who's going to pay for it all though? The government? Not without raising taxes, that's for sure.
- +1 y
Yes they do, and like I said, it's not there. They have very little help in comparison to women. Who pays for it makes no difference, there's less help for men, plenty for women, which leads to more men killing themselves.

Wrong women don't just have to look nice, we have to go through peirods, birth, a lot more stress than boys, and they say the pain of period cramps are equivilent to the pain of a heart attack. So imagen this, how would you like to have a 7 day long heart attack and none stop bleeding.
