Why are women so obsessed with the crime genre?

I've never met a woman (yet) who isn't at least into the criminal universe. Not saying I have an issue but it's just something I noticed after seeing not only comment sections being made up of women on criminal related videos, but my friends reading books related to them. Women, explain this.

Well I know when it comes to true crime, more violent crimes are committed against women than men. Most serial killer victims are women. We watch those shows because we can learn from it and also because we empathize with the victims. I think because women are generally very empathetic, even more empathetic than men .. these kinda shows shake us to the core and keeps us hooked and makes us wanna educate ourselves because we put ourselves in the victims shoes. The last true crime show I watched, probably the worst one, was the hello kitty case and my heart literally sank. It's a dangerous world we live in, especially for women.

It's always been women more than men. The world doesn't revolve around America. I'm talking about everywhere in general. I live in south africa... we literally have femicide as a national crises.

The second thing to consider is women are killed for stupid things, like rejecting a man.. heard too many cases of it.
