I am from the sub-continent or more slang wise I am 'desi'. But I don't think there's a big difference in the east or west on how this has cultivated?
Would love to have pieces of peoples brain on this.

I don't think they are more inclined or pushed to wear the pants in a relationship.
What has happened in the last decade or so, at least in the Western world, is the fact that the Metoo movement has progressively made women realize that they have also a word to say in a relation and are not just simply the doormat where men just simply step on without fearing any consequences.
Realization that women also have a word to say in the relation has possibly led a few people to believe that they are actually wearing the pants. This may seem like that as seen perhaps from places where women are still doormats such as in more remote areas in Africa, parts of Asia and perhaps even Eastern Europe.
Can it also be the fact that men are also overwhelmed by the new social standards of behaviour that they are clueless how to behave from their fostered privilege over the years? And end up being too careful that it is slightly rubbing off as being scared? Which is I think good since a self-check is being developed in their brains to understand what is appropriate and what's not.
I remember then I was 12 the women in the family were separated from the men like they were teams for dodge ball. Then they had a whole years worth of debate over different things and they started talking about women being authorize and I liked the idea about it. Until my aunt told me that I should want a man to be the In charge of the house. She still thinks this way but for me I always like being the one to wear the pants in relationships and be seen as authoritative.
Technically I know me and my partner won't have to go over something like that, but one thing for me is that if the situation will impact both of us then I will talk to you about it. But if you want me to decide I won't care just be prepared for my choices.
I actually used to think this way. But I've had some training and my feelings have changed on the topic.
I actually prefer if my man is the one who is in charge and essential makes all the decisions or at least had the final say.
I think men are generally considered more authoritative than women but there's always the exception.
Very interesting question! It really got me thinking.
Interesting that people are consciously choosing to take or give authority, which I think is a better way.
But more interestingly, in my observation on how things are going women who hold a more authoritative presence are increasing.
It may not be accurate but men these day are more inclined in giving authority away than making the effort to take and be responsible.
As a fellow desi, I’d say most girls wear pants or skirts because it’s what they actually want to wear, not because of the industry. We’re not in the 19th century for skirts to reign supreme anyways.
if this opinion was helpful in any way, I would love if you could also answer one of my questions too! I know this sounds so clickbaity but I genuinely do need some help :/
I've never cared for the term "wearing the pants in the family/relationship." There's enough stuff to do in a marriage or relationship that both can work it out. One doesn't need to be more dominant than the other.
... as much as it is true for many relationships, the idea of taking more burden or one having more authority between the two is equally as valid for as many relationships.
My curiousity lies with how it has tipped over to became a new normal for women to be open about their need or instinct to lead.
