Why do some girls reject guys they like?

I hear it's quite a common phenomena that happens. The girl will like the guy but if the guy asks her out he is then rejected. I know that they have the right to reject but why develop the feelings in the first if you're just going to selfishly reject the guy anyway. Some like to play games and some just are narcissists. Why would some women reject someone they like?

One reason is because girls are taught that guys like the chase. So they believe if the guy really likes them the guy will try again after being rejected. They think if they guy really wasn’t into them then he goes away when rejected to find an easier girl

I do get that but then again there's a paradox in there. If you chase too much you become too needy and some women dislike that. Basically, you become their pet and orbiter.

It depends how the guy asks. If he's with his buddies and says something macho to get a laugh from the guys, he's getting a fast no from her.

If he asks her out in a way that says he knows she likes him and he's really only interested in sex from her, she'll turn him down. "Hay Baby, how about a roll in the hay?"

She might be interested, but she'll want to keep her dignity in tact.

I had to reject someone bc I know I’m not ready to date yet. I can’t help my feelings, it just feels what it wants but logically I know that since I’m not mentally ready, it would just end up being a disaster if I were to go for it.
