Why did my girlfriend just cut her own hair?

I've been dating this girl for about a month and she called me yesterday and said she felt like she "needed a change" and she cut her hair off and asked me to come and help her cut the back of it. It seemed really random she's had it long for a while and she cut it pretty short. Is this just a hair change or is she going through something.

Something may be happening in her life and she is feeling lost or sad internally and thinks changing her hair may help her feel better. She is probably on a mission to create a new and better version of herself and a fast and easy way to do that is by cutting her hair, which is a big thing that shows who you are externally.
