Girls, What causes a girl to have a delayed response in person when I was talking to her?

It was weird this girl is been quiet with me when I've always been nice to her. I was telling her about this massive car crash that happened down the road from my house. She didn't give much of a response. Then a minute later she decides to say something about that. It was like she didn't know what today and there was a delay.
