Ladies, if there were no men in the world for 24 hours, what would you do?

24 hours without men would create some issues that men would have to work hard to fix when they come back. Women would have a harder time enjoying their 24 hour of freedom since many things would break down in that time. Due to lack of working men. Because men work in more critical society functions, even if most affects wouldn't be felt that soon. But there would be more areas without electricity, logistics and services. Nothing most couldn't handle, it's just one day after all.

Women aren't incapable of doing those jobs, they're just unwilling. And most of those jobs aren't jobs you can just step into.

To get a job in power generation, you first need an engineering degree, and then there is a 3 year apprenticeship before you are qualified. The apprenticeship is crucial, and it relies on being trained by people with many years of real-world experience.

The situation is very similar for water treatment, grid management, commercial shipping, oil refining, fracking, petroleum exploration, and most other major infrastructure jobs that the world relies on.

Currently, women make up less than 0.1% of these jobs - not because they couldn't do the job if they chose, but because very, very few want those tough jobs, despite the high pay.

But that also means that if men disappeared, women could not do these jobs because they would mostly be dead - from the lack of clean water or food, and the violence that would result, long before they could learn the job.

An unmanaged power generation plant would either take itself offline or destroy itself within a few hours, and if that happens to more than a few without immediate grid management, it can destroy the entire grid, which could take more than a year to restore, assuming we could import the required parts from somewhere else and we had full, experienced crews to replace the equipment, and fuel to move the parts and crews, and food and water to sustain them.

I think you vastly underestimate how much you rely on the work of men to survive, and how fragile the infrastructure really is, and how difficult it is to bring new workers online.

@Rebel_Queen No one said "ALL women" - but the statistics don't lie. In fact, the Scandinavian countries have prioritized egalitarianism for longer than anywhere else, and created laws and programs to encourage women to go into STEM, among other things. The result?

A DECREASE in women going into stem and an INCREASE in selecting more traditionally feminine roles. When women are given the choice and have little other pressure, they overwhelmingly choose against traditionally-male occupations and for traditionally-female occupations.

We see that in the US and UK as well - there are lots of grants and scholarships for women going into STEM, but few women still choose those majors, and a whole lot who do choose them change their majors in the first year. One area that's an exception is Medicine - but that's because Medicine, unlike most other sciences - is focused on PEOPLE rather than THINGS, and women strongly prefer occupations that deal with people, while men prefer occupations that deal with things.

Medicine is hardly an easy field of study, but women are doing great in it, because it aligns with their interests. Similarly, there are lots of female lawyers - another difficult field - and they're also doing great because it aligns with their interests.

No one is saying that women aren't CAPABLE of STEM - they just have little INTEREST in those fields as a rule. Obviously there will be a few exceptions, but that doesn't disprove the rule.

You know how many patients I see that are morbidly obese? Neither do I, but it's a lot. Far more women than men. A big part of that is lack of shaming. Shaming prompts people to make changes that are healthier and less offensive to people like myself that are burdened with a keen sense of aesthetics. As a society, we have no problem with shaming smokers. Why do we do this? Is it because of second hand smoke? Even though the evidence that second hand smoke causes cancer is really all based off of a fraudulent EPA report,, yes we do. And I'm supposed to really lay into my patients if any of them dare say yes to the tobacco user question.

Now, people who are obese are generally going to die sooner than a smoker who is not. Complications from smoking don't generally emerge until the late 50s at the earliest. And only about 10% of lifetime heavy smokers develop cancer. Obesity on the other hand will cause very serious health problems as early as the 30s. As matter of fact, I can't recall the last time I even saw a patient having a heart attack that was not obese. It's virtually all of them. And that is just heart disease, we need not get into all of the other complications.

That being said, why shouldn't we fat shame people? If you're going to say they can't help it, that is generally not correct. Fat shaming may be the only thing that causes somebody to improve themselves, look better, and feel better. As well as find a good man instead of bitching that no men find her attractive.
