Why Do I fold under pressure and get nervous asking out a girl I like?

I asked her if she wants to get together some time to get to know each other. Her response was I just moved here I don’t know what’s fun to do area here. She’s from California, I told her I been here for 2 years. She didn’t necessarily accept it, she said she’ll think about it.

I know what that means, I’m painfully shy so rejection is so painful to me. I feel like I’m in a dark area when it happens. Just frustrated because I thought she liked me because she seemed a little too friendly

Its a rejection but it sounds to me more like she's not ready to date. she could have just got out of a relationship. some girls are like that including me lol
