Probably because once they were the first thing you didn’t want to leave in the morning before work and they were the last thing you’d come back to cuddle at night at one time or another you thought of that person as your home and now they aren’t there, both emotionally and physically so even if they were it wouldn’t be the same it’s almost like someone close to you dying in a way but its worse because their memory can’t be treasured often as they spoil it when they leave or after they leave more often than not. Moving on hurts but getting stuck on someone is worse, just keep pushing forward and do new things progress in your career and eventually you’ll find someone else on the same path as you who’ll look at you in awe like you’re this perfect person like your ex once did. They’ll be 100% better for you and after the cycle may repeat it may not. If it does it’ll be harder than last time it always is, but I
guarantee you’ll find someone even better after that and fuck if it’s too late and there really is no one else you’ll be at such a point anyway where you’re happy with your life and what you’ve achieved so I wouldn’t fret over it. Just keep pushing forward and disregard the way you feel when it comes to action, acknowledge it and keep it moving.

I guess for me it was the feeling you had first thing in the morning waking up and looking over or just being able to feel that you were not alone. That’s a very powerful feeling in this very detached world we have. As we awaken to a very fast and cruel world, to know that we always have someone by our it is incredibly stabilizing to a person.
In the weeks months or years after a split, the mornings are particularly painful. Every morning you wake up to the emptiness and loneliness of an empty bed and a quiet home. Even a bad marriage or relationship as good moments and you have to mourn those. It can be awful and the only antidote is to live and let time do its thing

The moment I wake up, I think of all the people who have gotten away scott free from being in my life more. While some of those people have been men, others have been same-sex people at work (even from a previous job) who didn't think they needed to share their weight of the workload. I'm not an evolutionary psychologist, but I guess there must be some reason why we think of these people (who implicitly demonstrated that they have the power to not give in to us) in the morning. My reaction is to want to sleep longer, not get up, go out in the world, and possibly find someone who does value me. Maybe it's a survival of the fittest kind of thing. We, the ones who think of theses people in the mornings, are encouraged to whither away since we have displayed weakness and the other person has demonstrated power.
